Distributor suppressors - throw them away!

Have been fiddling with the 450 trying to resolve the poor running problem: kangarooing/shunting, misfiring throughout the rev range and rev-hunting, all plugs showing signs of misfiring/over-fuelling (worsening over the last 18months).
Talked to ACT yesterday, about buying a Bosch coil to try that and find out "most cars don't have the suppressors", so I tried removing just the one that's on the coil-distributor lead and...wow...quite a difference.
Still some shunting but much milder, and I can hold a constant rev at 2000, 3000 whatever, whereas it used to oscillate up and down by a few 100 revs. No noticeable increase in any noise on the radio and I'm sure its accelerating with more punch.
Results seems to suggest: if you've got these little suppressor things on your dizzy, chuck em in the bin and get a stronger spark. I'm going to try removing the other 8 now.
