Are these a waste of money?

As far as I'm aware, you have to change the chip in the ECU to allow any kind of 'tuning.' These shouldn't be advertised as such.

It looks like it to me, I would save my money for a ECU change. This probably connects between ECU & the sensors and changes the signal to ask for more fuel. I can't see it adding any power.

I'm so certain that that's a total waste of money that should anybody on here buy one, I will dig out our dyno and do before and after power runs on their car free of charge, purely as I'm interested.

Apparently it changes your gear ratios too - giving you a new higher top speed..!

When I purchased my car it had a Unichip piggyback computer fitted.

This computer allowed for a mapable ignition system and as such controlled the distributer, cannot see any reason for fitting a piggyback system to the fuel injection as this is mapable in the standard ECU.

Oh Boy- talk about kings new clothes ! Do you honestly think TVR never spent any effort remapping the ECU to get maximum power? You cant magic more power or better MPG just by plugging in this device, it would have been done in the first place in the map- bullst things like this make my blood boil. The best you can do is optimise the map you have on a rolling road if you car has been modified- otherwise leave it alone.
