Have you got Photoshop John?
Personally I always thought bright wheels suited mid-range colours with dark wheels suiting either light or dark coloured cars but it's all a matter of personal taste at the end of the day.
Were you thinking of changing your wheels or just painting them? If it was just painting them here is a photo of the 500 wheels in a darker shade that I took at one of the Kent meets that might help you decide??

I had my 500 wheels painted in anthracite. I know my car isnt the colour you mentioned but it might help you to try, and picture what it would look like a little better.
