HELP I NEED A NEW CLUTCH!!

Hi,

Ive got a Chim 400 1996, My clutch is dead, i need a replacment. I been trawling through the threads and most seem to say get the clutch out first then see what it is.. Can there really be that many variations?

Has any body fitted a clutch theres talk of a sierra cosworth one or a standard V8..or any part numbers?

Any help gratefully recieved.

If you look in the EBC clutches section at motorsportworld, they do them for ~£100.

Don't know what EBC clutches are like but its a good price and probably OK for 4.0 litre.

Still very interested if I can use a Sierra Cosworth Clutch....something to do with I have about 10 of these in my shed!

Yes there can be that many variations. Don't fit a Rover SD1 or Range Rover clutch as they not up to it. Most people fit Borg and Beck which last. Do fit a new release bearing. Do check the release arm. and replace as necessary.

As for using a Sierra Cosworth clutch... I doubt it as I suspect the flywheel mounts are not the same.

Well I need to extend that now to a new Gearbox...changed from 4th to 5th big bang, now I have a 4 speed box...great!!!!

I believe the gearbox is a T5 from a sierra cosworth with a TVR bellhousing, can somebody please confirm...

Lets hope bad luck really dont come in 3's...

It's the WCR version though. The normal cossie ones tend to die.

Its the strengthened toughened version of the gearbox.

Surely its going to be easier (and cheaper) to get your box re-built than find and fit another one..? There was a T5 box an ebay a few weeks ago.. it went for well over £400 IIRC.

P.S The T5 Housing and input shaft is Chrysler(23 spine) not cossie (10 spline)

Ok, so a rebuilt box I think is going to be the easier option..Ive just found 2 gearbox's T5 for £200 as well.. gutted I can use them now!..

Does anyone know anyone that can recon the boxes and what sort of cost Im looking at?
