Potential "new" cars......

With prices of our cars going up and up does anyone else think a few old cars will resurface? With the chassis etc being relatively cheap it would be worth some who are unscruplous building/ressurecting old cars?

Getting a bodyshell probably wouldn't be cheap. I wonder if owners with complete new chassis have told DVLA? Since it is stamped with the VIN number, a complete new chassis may end up with the car being given a Q reg! I would hope not.

I don't know what you're trying to say. There are a few companies offering drive in drive out restorations, they aren't unscrupulous. Have I missed the point?

As I understand it, there's no problem with a new chassis. 1. it's original, 2. the engine, transmission, suspension and steering are original. So you still have enough points 8 point check table.

No I don't mean the restoration companies. I'm thinking that you could buy a chassis and bodyshell etc from a defunct or well past restorable car and re-create a car?

If it's well past restorable then the chassis and body are most likely going to be the things making it uneconomical to restore.

Still don't really understand the question.

If you buy a car that doesn't work, and fix it, then yes, you've re-created a car. It's the same car, it's just been fixed.
