outriggers hole found

just checking the car over found a big hole in the outrigger drivers side front, so presumption is they are on the way out, has anybody had these replaced lately ,if so what is the cost, and I am situated near Winchester, is there anywhere local to me that does them lots of questions I know car is a 96 so lasted 20years with dodgey coating so not bad really.

Unfortunately it's mostly labour costs as metal tubing and steel plate is cheap as chips to buy

That would seem a bit pricey I would say. Probably £16-1800 would be a fair price. Pays to shop around but cheaper is not always best.

Pretty much the going rate. As said, mainly labour. Body off is best but body lift should be minimum for decent job. It comes to us all... Good luck!

My car is currently in Southways having a full body lift to refurb the chassis. All I can say is that I would not consider going anywhere else.

Richard is a top guy and knows these cars inside out. His work was recommended to me by a Griff owner who also had a body lift. I called Richard to discuss the options and he spent over 45 minutes running through them. I was most impressed that someone as busy as he is was prepared to go into such detail when he no doubt had other things to do and at that stage he did not know if I was just sounding him out.

I think his hourly rate is extremely favourable and if his prices are slightly higher for outriggers it is most likely due to being a better job than you will be getting elsewhere.

He has his own S there as an example of the standard of work he carries out. Contact him, he will advise you of the options.

I'm fairly local to Southways.

They've done loads of TVR S's and Chimaeras/Griffs...and I believe a Cerbera too.

Richard is a very tidy welder. They will give you several options regarding coatings on the repairs.

I believe they had a hiccup with customer satisfaction 15 months ago - but I understand that issue has now been resolved.

There's a very good race engineering shop that know tvrs well about 40-50 miles from you. They did my outriggers for a lot less than the regulars charge and did a perfect job. Al's engineering in to Google will give you the contact details if you want them. But be warned they don't have a flashy web page!

I'm having mine outriggers replaced by Mat Smith Sports cars if you are willing to travel a bit further you will find he is very competitive on price and his work is second to none, also you can book the courtesy car to get home.
