Changing headlight bulb on a Mk 1 ?

Afternoon,

I've got the pleasure of accessing the headlight bulb through the front grill as I have a Mk 1 without access hatches. I've had a feel around as can't see anything anyway but wanted to ask for pearls of wisdom as to how best to remove the bulb. I don't want to force anything as could do with breaking wires etc.

Are the bulbs to be twisted out anti clockwise or are they retained by a spring clip ? Any guidance would be really appreciated as it seems a pig of a job and working blind !

Pull off the loom connector and then there's a spring clip that you need to squeeze the ends together on so that you can release it - and then the bulb will likely just fall out.

Why not cut an access hole in the wheel arch?

Nightmare of a job... it took 30 minutes for me to take the first one out then 1 minute for the second (just knowing what to do). Id look at a photo of what they look like online before attempting so you know whats what. There is a spring clip that holding a hinging plate that holds the bulb in. Good luck
