no ignition lights and no start

Any ideas? car not showing any lights and not starting...it was starting but today i noticed the clutch slave cylinder had popped its bits out and was leaking oil everywhere...there is currently no gearbox on the car but it started fine before..any ideas or could it be a fuse? battery is fully charged

You say 'no start' but have not said if it turns over or if the fuel pump is running.

Sorry Steve, the car is making no noise - not turning over no priming...when i turn the ignition nothing what happens so ever

80 amp fuse, in a black holder in the passenger footwell spaghetti - you may find it just behind the top right corner of the fuse box. If that blows you get the symptoms you mention. Or the battery terminals disconnected.

I'll second that one .... 80 amp fuse in passenger footwell.
Mine had exactly the same symptoms when this fuse decided it didn't want to play.
On mine, fuse was still intact, just not connecting at the back.
Worth sorting anyway, I've heard of fires starting when the resistance at this connection increases with corrosion.

okay....i am bewildered...i have the fuse - i cant find that black fusebox anywhere! i have even taken the main fusebox off and its still nowhere to be seen! ... it is a 93 chimaera, there definately is not one in the passenger footwell! i am stuck...again

If I remember correctly not all cars were fitted with the second fuse holder in the foot well.

Best to put a multimeter on the battery to check that it is fully charged.

Battery is fully charged, i have put it on charge and the charger says it is at full...i am completely stumped!

I am not sure on the earlier chims but but follow the main positive leads from the battery. One goes directly to the starter motor and there is at least one other which should go to the fuse box . It is usually on this one where there is another fuse holder but not necessarily.

If you have a multimeter or a test lamp you can follow this cable and see where your power drops off.

Did you happen to remove the earth strap from the engine to the chassis?

On my 94, a fuse holder is mounted on the offside chassis, underneath, about a foot in front of the starter motor. The thick wire from the starter motor goes into it.

thanks! yes the earth strap is connected haha ! It was running, then when i went to start it up a few days after nothing happened what so ever...no flashing lights no nothing! ... dead as a dodo.

Ill try and find it! was looking today at that area but couldnt find it...maybe its wrapped up in all the cable stuff

That fuse is between starter and alternator.
The other fuse being discussed here is normally in the footwell.

OP Start at the battery and follow any positive wires coming from it. If the fuse is there you will find it. If your follow of wires takes you straight to the back of the fusebox then that is where you will have to start testing for +12V.
