Wiper Woes

I took the wiper motor assembly off my Chim in search of a water leak into the footwell, When this was out I decided to take it apart, clean it up then repaint it. Now Ive re installed it and its not working!! Any ideas on what I may have done to break it?? Could it be paint overspray in the plug? This is really doing my head in.....

Can you hear the motor turning? If you can't I'd start with checking the electical contacts look good, ideally shiny. The do corrode a lot so clean them up. If that doesn't solve it, I'd check the brushes next, they are fragile. I'm assuming you took the round motor casing off.

I took the round casing off and replaced the grease. Hopefully I haven't damaged the motor as Ive seen the cost of a replacement

Connections as suggested are the favourite, try some wd40 in the loom side and plug it in and out a few times to aid cleaning.

I keep my car at a lock up and forgot to bring along my volt meter, ammeter mistake I know but ill see the chim on friday and check the connectors I may have damaged a cable when removing the plug. Ill try the WD40 trick and hope!

does it earth through a connection with the casing, which is now insulated with paint?

Sorry for the late reply, There were some holes with screws going through that leaked water through and just general non mastic-ed bits. It takes a while to find them all (put a work shop lamp in your engine bay, turn off any other lights then look in the footwell for any light coming in)
