how much slack on timing chain

hello,

just in the process of doing an engine strip down at the moment, and was wondering how much slack is considered acceptable on the timing chain, i remember when i replaced my last one that the new version also seemed a bit loose.

does anyone have an action limit in terms of mm deflection?

dont want to fork out for a new one if the old is perfectly serviceable.

There will be a tight side and a slack side. Slack feels slack but sloppy feels downright sloppy. Most blokes already know this. If you'rs is sloppy a few quid will get you a nice tight one.
