Venting steering rack gaiters

On a manual steering rack, is there a vent between the two boots?
I have just fitted new rubber gaiters and when done up tightly the air moving out of one as it compresses does does not go into the other one that is expanding meaning they both deform.
Also when regreasing, how much do you put into each of the three nipples?

The gaitors on my rack collapse as well. Kiley Clinton, who refurb racks, told me that some rack bars are drilled all the way through to prevent this....but not on the TVR. I have read that when the car is jacked up you shouldn't move the steering from lock to lock too quickly or you could blow one of the gaitors off.
I used to grease mine very occasionally and only a little at a time although I doubt that too much would do any harm.

My first thought was not to tighten the cable tie on the main rack body too tightly to let the air in and out, but then you are also sucking dust in by doing this.I used to grease mine very occasionally and only a little at a time although I doubt that too much would do any harm.
