hello yet again.....i noticed that on motorway the heater didnt blow hot but when i was in town(ie slower speeds)the heater blows hot,engine temp is same,just wondered anyone else got this pecularity and if someone has an explanation or is it one of the mysterys of the world

As for the heater, its probably cos the cold air doesn't have time to get hot as its forced in at motorway speeds... Not 100% sure though.

jimothy....thanks....i thought heaters got there warmth from water pipes and engine ,and pipes are certainly hot.????????

Where is the warm/cold air coming in? If it's from the footwells then these are fresh air vents that will flow cold at speed but when moving slowly they may pick up heat from the engine bay.

The windscreen and dash vents should stay hot regardless of speed. If they aren't then the heater flap which directs the flow past the heater or straight to fresh air may be loose and may be flapping open by ram effect when you're driving at speed.

You need a copy of the bible.

my heaters are hot on the motorway and the water temp goes right down to 60 in this cold wheather
the heaters should still be hot
there is something a bit strange there mate

hello..your right i do need copy of bible asap.i thought heating same as other cars ie direct fan to window then warm air goes there and push dial to down and i get warm air to feet.when directed up i got minimal heat to windscreen at motorway speeds....i was freezin drivin it home after i bought it....is there no way of directing heat to feet or how do u close fresh vents in winter drivin(original booklet makes everything sound as heating same as normal car)also anyone else outhere got an orange warning bulb on petrol guage or is it just my car!thanks

Have you opened the manual vents to direct the heat to your feet. You have to feel around in footwell area. Could be that the heat seeps in whilst slow, but is drawn away at speed.

thats what i thought but my temp guage shows midrange....car has stood for a while before i bought ...maybe airlock or pipes to heater blocked!!!

2 smokin barrels....sorry i must have been writing a reply as u were so i didnt see yours(im confusing myself now).....were gettin somewhere now...i didnt know about any manual flaps(remember i only just got car..first tvr)...i am away from car for couple of weeks but will get me head in the footwell and have a look...is it just the driver who has this.....also why was screen heating only luke warm while on motorway in this case.rob

When you are stationary or slow the heat tends to build up in the cabin. As you drive faster cold air leaks in from all over the place. If the vents/flaps are closed the heat coming in is slower than the heat getting out!!

as the previous post says - cold air can leak in from loads of places. often a culprit is the bottom edge of the door. stick your hand down the side of the seat at speed and see if you feel a draft. bit of masking tape along the inside of the door, to meet the rubber seal should fix that for you - you may need a couple of layers.
the temp may drop due to cool running kit - low temp thermostat, usually with a low temp otter ( fan ) switch.
mine has that, so it warms up to normal temp in traffic, and will hold that if you keep the heater closed, but open the heater at speed and mine dips down to around 70deg. get a warm coat and a hat - soon be summer, and believe me, you'll be plenty warm enough then!
