Dash delaminating - what's best?

So the veneer on my dash is finally coming away. I found one place that would take mine and send me some already re veneered( mine then go to the next person etc etc)

Someone mentioned that even the dashes can be very specific to the car I.e. It's been fettled at the factory to fit.

So - what's the best option chaps, any recommendations for someone to use?

Andy at CentralTVR will fit a new replacement dash set while you wait. Dash set is standard after Oct 96 so your Chimaera is easy to do. Mat Smith or Dave The Trimmer or Bespoke also worth a call.

You could replace with aluminium version or I know some people have taken their old dash out, removed all the veneer and polished up the aluminium back themselves and put it back in. Depends what look you fancy and if you fancy doing any of the work yourself. Personally I like the wood veneer. I did replace the dash on my old Chim for another veneered one, it was a bit fiddly, but not impossible.

Thanks - should have said, it will be wood veneer again. No aluminium options for me, I've just replaced the steering wheel with one that matches the dash.


Any idea on costs anyone?

there are a couple of tricky things when changing the dashboards. The clips that hold the lower panel in place are very fiddly to get in the same place and on the later dashboards and the LEDs holders around the speedo and rev counter take a bit working out how to change. Fairly easy job apart from these two areas.

Central TVR website is under maintenance at the moment but from memory, the stainless steel and carbon options were under £200 whilst the replacement wood veneer is over £300.

Edit: This included labour for removal and refitting new one.

I would also have a word with David Gerald TVR. They have made some new finishes and had them on show at the Milbrook event last year. I went with a piano black and I am very pleased with it. The finish is better than the carbon one i fitted to my last car and looks really good!
