Chimaera value

Can anybody help with a value for my Chimaera?
I'm afraid I have to sell as I've fallen in love with a Tamora.
Details:
1997 R reg
4 litre
Cherry Pearl, Magnolia half hide.
Full service history
only 10,000 miles
I thought about £16k due to mileage and condition, but do you experts think this is too much.
Any help appreciated.

That sounds like a good deal to me if its in very good condition, I'd be calling you if I hadn't already bought one.
If it were me probably be looking to haggle a bit, but there arn't many around with that low a mileage so if someone values that then they will pay the extra for it. For me a low mileage was important when I was looking.
Might not be the best time of year to sell it though.

Try it and see if you get any responses. A car with such little mileage is quite a rarity now.

How is the paintwork? If its pristine 16K for a private sale sounds OK to me...given you'll actually accept a little less if there is reason to in the negotiating...

I'd have thought 14k-£15 was a bit more realistic I'm afraid.. depends how long you can wait to sell it.

I purchased mine in Jan, a 97 facelift P Plate 4.0, blue with magnolia leather and 32k for 13 grand. I would expect one with 20 k less and probably in better condition than mine would fetch around 15.
Remember its a hard time of year to sell though.

I think it's a little hopeful IMHO, mines up for sale with under 22K 98R and that's up for a little over 15K.

Can't see you getting 16K without offering a years warranty! i.e. on a forecourt!

Thanks guys, I'm in no rush to sell as I already have the Tamora, and was thinking of selling in the Spring.
I think I'll try £16,000 ono and see what happens

Well best of luck with it and if you find someone who specifically wants a low mile minter then I trust you get a good price.

My caution is predominantly based on what else you can get for the money as you could for instance pick up a nice 450 or 500 of the same age for that money (granted with higher miles).

I'd say from your description you were spot on the Money there.

I think the Chim will always have a good market, it's look is ageless. I passed a few since having the Tam, and the Chim looks nigh on perfect for a sports car, the front looks nice and squat, low to the ground and it has that slight bonnet bulge which indicates whats underneath, it is a timeless, lovely British sports car, and will always sell

Hi Matt , Sold the Chim within a week of putting it on for sale in the Pistonheads ads!!, and I got a grand less than when I bought the Chim almost 2 years before! so I was very happy, but, we still miss it sometimes, especially Chan, she loved the car to bits.
We do, however, love the Tam too, driving dynamics are obviously sharper than the Chim, including acceleration, which is just mad!, and it's easier to drive; That isn't taking anything away from the Chim though, it's all reletive, and the Tam is a newer model, but the Chim is, and always will be a great car, when the kids eventually leave home, Chan has stated on more than one occasion that she wants our red Chim back!!
