Brembo Fitting Advice
Discussion
Hi to those who've already fitted these Brembo calipers (rigga, Andav469 ect), please can you go over the "drilling of the hub" element again for me?
In this PH advert the seller says.... "These calipers come with the caprisport brackets to fit directly to the TVR. Unlike most, they have been tapped M10 so you don't need to drill you upright out to accept the usual M12 bolts"
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/parts-and-p...
Is tapping to M10 a better approach than drilling, or it neither here or there?
Thanks in advance for any detailed advice on fitting these calipers, Phazed has very kindly offered me his ramp on Saturday morning, I've got the morning to do the work but do need to be off the ramp by lunch time.
I just want to make sure I'm 100% prepared for the work so any tips, photos, potential issues to pre-empt would be much appreciated... Phazed Towers is an hour's drive from my house so I don't want find myself stranded there without brakes because I suddenly discover half way through the job I've forgotten something.
I'm guessing 1.5 ours per side including swearing time and a final bleed up, does this sound reasonable?
Thanks in advance, Dave.

Phazed is a good man to have looking over your shoulder when working on brakes - he changed my front pads in minutes on Friday's track day after I boiled the brake fluid with new pads and had a 120 mph spin.
Trousers look ok now they've been through a hot cycle with biological powder
He also fixed a broken calliper bolt for me a while back in the back yard of a country garage, after the darned thing sheared on the way (in convoy) to a sprint day. He's a useful man to have around.

Quite straight forward Dave, assuming you know about bleeding the master cylinder the only thing I needed was small spacer washers to centre the disks inside the callipers
Thanks mate, spacers are something I wouldn't have thought about.Do you know the washer size you used? I'm keen to make sure I have everything I need on the day.
Doing the caliper swap on Peters ramp will make the job a lot easier, but finding out halfway through the job and an hours drive from home that I'm missing something could prove frustrating.
A bit of planning goes a long way

Take some mastic or other to use instead of copper grease on the back of the pads, put a splodge on the pad, fit it and you shouldn't get any pad rattle.
Peter knows these cars inside out, you shouldn't have to many problems that he can't surmount. I'm looking forward to your experience and feel for these brakes Dave. Goodliuck.

Sorry mate I can't remember but they were very thin, I am sure Phazed will have some in his garage. That said others have not had any need for themDo you know the washer size you used? I'm keen to make sure I have everything I need on the day.

Should I call Daz down to help?

Didn't need to drill my hubs as they are 500, which I believe have larger holes than the 400 and possible 450 cars, so I just ran a tap through the standard hole to accept the 12mm mounting bolt for the adapter plate.

Thanks Martin My 4.0 litre has the same 260mm discs/brakes as fitted to the 5 litre cars, so perhaps no drilling required after all?
But I will need an M12 tap to hand then?
Cheers, Dave.

Exactly what I did, then a nyloc nut on the end of the bolt http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=127...
