T5 Rear Seal

Hi, hope someone has a couple of bits of info that would be very useful.

I recently changed the rear seal on my T5. Afer about 40 miles its pushed the seal out and dumped most of the fluid. Not a good thing. I've given it a good talking to.

I read that it should be put in dry. It was, as was the recess where it sits. They were cleaner than a very clean thing. More reading suggests gluing it in. Any good suggestions for the glue to use?

Also, I notice the seal has a notch one side and a small hole the other, propshaft side of the actual sealing part. This means it should be a particular way up. I m guessing hole to the bottom for drainage.

Dave, is the gearbox breather ok?

Sounds like it may be blocked.

Its feasible it could be the breather, but on the basis that it never popped out before, and I've just changed it, I'm blaming the fitting. I don't really want to remove the box if I can help it and the breather is on the top I think, so probably impossible to get to.
