Won't start!

No Burghley for me, for the first time in my 10 years of ownership she failed to start this morning, all okay at first then just died, ignition on and will turn over but can’t hear the fuel pump, bashed the top of the dash but no change, what next?

There are a couple of similar looking relays in the foot well. Try swapping them over and check all are seated correctly. Given you have had the car a while, you probably have the silver bosche ones.

Also, check the connector in the fuel pump.

Thank will try the relays, are the fuel pump connectors under the car near the fuel pump?

Looks like the fuel pump, swapped the relays and you can hear it pulling in but the fuel pumps not working, will investigate further.

Dont overlook the obvious and check the fuses, particularly the ecu one.

Not a hijacking of the post its similar also to another topic, no start but pump priming, plugs getting fuel, plugs sparking, now Im gonna be negative, the joy of taking the car out is greatly overshadowed with the cars unreliability having undergone many hrs fault finding and money spent on it, as much as I enjoy having it for 4 years now I would sell in an instant if I could only get it started,,,

Mine's been doing something similar, pump primes, car fires up and dies almost immediately, new plugs and it would then run as if only on a two cylinders. Long story short, the fuel pump is pulsing and groaning away and is obviously no longer up to the task. Tried to get one in a scrappy yesterday, but the tens of cars that these in line pumps were fitted to have long been turned into something else.

TV8 It was the relay, I found I had a spare, swapped and she fired up straight away. Got to Burghley slightly later than planned, No.646.

Glad you got it sorted! Worth having a spare of these and a couple of the ignition parts with you in the boot. Not wishing to tempt fate...but I find it rains a lot less when I carry an umbrella and apply the same principle to these lovely cars!
