fuel pump problems

took the old girl out last weekend but all of a sudden she stopped.
It was the fuel pump. The recovery guy gave the pump a clout with a wrecking bar and off she went.
I understand this is quite a common problem and at least now I know what to do. Does this mean I need a new fuel pump?
By the way - anyone going to Spa in April?

Well if you didn't before, you do now! My experience with failed pumps is that they start sounding horrible some time before they finally give up. Electrical problems however come and go at the drop of a hat. If you had a wiring fault at the pump, bashing it might have disturbed things just enough to bring it back to life.

Could also have disturbed a bad connection.
