doors making funny noise

Just took delivery of my new Toy yellow chim (fastest colour) Having driven it all weekend in a mixture of rain, snow and sunshine I can't get the smile off my face. I have noticed that at high speed (still legal) the door solonoids start making a noise as if they are activitating. Having read the manual that states at high speed the doors open slightly I was wondering if this is related. It's not a huge problem as does not happen all the time and can barely be heard above the supurb engine note.
Just going out to the garage now to hear the rumble again....what a CAR!!!!

I'm not too sure but it could be the door switch. The closing and locking solenoids both look to the door switch to work out whether the door is closed or not. The switch is vulnerable to water ingress and you may have been forcing rainwater at it.

You'll find the switch on the sill plate. Take it out, clean it and spray it with WD40. If that fails I'm not sure what else it could be.

You may find it is the door switches, they have spacer pads which may need adjusting or indeed putting back if one/both have gone missing.

..do you hear a water sloshing sound too occaisionally..? The sills can collect really quite a lot of water inside them, this leading to the switch problem as described.

Could this explain why my drivers door mirror switch has suddenly stopped working. The door opens fine using the interior knob, but the mirror switch just won't open it?

any idea how i get water out of the sills???

Most likely that the small rubber disk on the door is missing or deformed and thus not depressing the white plastic solenoid shaft that protrudes from the sill and activates the closing mechanism.

Does it make any sound when you press the button? If yes but it doesn't open, the solenoid in the pillar may be gunged up or faulty. Open the door from the inside and fire some WD40 into the mechanism. The mechanism should be sealed in the pillar with Sylastic and if this becomes damaged then water flows down the gap and straight through the solenoid.

More maintenance than fix, but you could try spraying WD40 behind mirror glss - some will reach destination. Overspray dribble can be wiped off.

Interior knob is mechanical, not electrical - not related to mirror button.

Got a bit lost on this thread:
Hut49 .. No it does not make any sound at all when I push the wing mirror button. Does this mean that a spray of WD40 behind the wing mirror glass could be a good idea as suggested by V8 Kieran ???

you got lost on the thread razorman ?? it seems my original quesion on door solonid has got lost with your question on mirror button. Oh well share the knowledge I guess.
