Car Seats

In order to retain the Chimaera I'm attempting to locate a kiddy's car seat that will fit it.

All the mainstream seats for 1-3 year olds won't fit because the safety strap catch (the bit the strap clips into, no idea what its real name is) sits too high. They all expect the catch to be at seat level where as on the chimaera they sit a lot higher up.

Does anyone know of any manufacturer's seats that do fit a chimaera or if there are any replacement catches with shorter spems that sit a lot lower.

The Maxi Cosi Citi fitted in mine fine, but I did have a 2001 with the Cerbera seats which may have made a difference.

Thanks, I'll have another look at the Maxi stuff. Mine's a 97 so there could well be a difference in the setup.

Nope, mine was a 98 and the Maxi Cosi fitted fine in mine.

Ah, the Maxi Cosi Citi for babies, I'm looking for something for toddlers 1-3 years.

Yep, I get a maxi cosi in mine too. My daughter is 3 but she is very small probably the equivalent of a 2yr old but I'm sure the seat goes upto average 5 yr olds.
The only thing is that her feet are touching the dash but she loves it as she can see over the doors.

However, i was considering looking into somebody making a harness which would enable the car seat to sit in the centre behind the seats but we've another child on the way so its not worth the hassle now.

I use a bebe confort iseos car seat -- little one is almost 2, and in the upper 10 percentaile for height and average for weight -- has no problems fitting it tightly or tavelling in it --- we went out a couple of weekends ago - after a bit of a lull and she pointed to it and said 'noisy car'!!! Loves the roof off, but had to put the panel in on the way back - she kept pointing up saying 'no sky' -- makes you poodle along really!
