This car is now one step closer to going on ebay. I put it in the garage last week and everything was fine. Put the battery conditioner and closed the door. Went to start it tonight, the pump whirred, turned the key and that little red light that looks like a snow flake flashed red which normally means "i am not going to start" and it didn't. Nothing. Have tried several times with alarming it on and off, disconnected the battery, jump leads from another battery all with the same result. Will contact the local TVR garage if it won't start and get them to fix it and then look round the forecourt.
Ive had the car for 2 years and put a new good quality battery on last year. Its had the occasional hot start problem about 3 times. 9 times out of 10 it has started first time when stood up for a week or 2. I drove it last weekend and it was fine. The red light flashes green as soon as it comes on and then flashes red. I did connect another battery to it but still no engine turn over.
The snowflake cycling colour is standard self test at startup and is normal assuming red light goes out.
The car should start regardless of the ice detector status.
Do you get a click from the starter when attempting to start or is it just silence ?
The starter could be stuck, try putting car in 3rd gear and rocking it nback and forth a few times which may free it off, take it out of 3rd and attempt start again.
Next step check wire to solenoid is connected and getting 12v when attempting to start, also check earths are ok too.
Look for chimpongas' lengthy & comprehemsive posts on hot start issues, its all covered in there.

If you don't have a meter to test the small wire for 12 volts at the starter solenoid, then ignition on, borrow some neighbours and bump start it. If it starts then the fault is in the starter circuit/earth circuit.
Quick way to test the earth circuit is to use a jump lead and connect it to the battery earth terminal and the other end to a solid metal part of the engine such as the alternator bracket or a lifting eye.

Over the last couple of days every time I've gone into the garage I have tried to start the car, needless to say nothing had changed. Today I tried again hoping a miracle had happened and the car made an attempt to start, only a little try but an attempt. I then tried it again and the battery went dead, probably because of the many attempts over the last couple of days. I jumped it with a spare battery and it started. I took the opportunity to go for a blast while it was working and to charge the battery. I came home and parked it up had a cuppa and went back out to start it and it was dead. The battery was charged so I put a meter on the ignition wire on the starter and there was no power. Would this confirm the immobiliser is the culprit.
Mick. It may be a red herring but if the spade connection on the starter is loose the solenoid will not engage and it won't start. This was my problem last week. Mine was also intermittent both hot and cold. Jack it up waggle the spade connector and see. Worth a try and an easy and very cheap fix if that is the culprit.
