Hi
Quick question, does the Y piece come off without removing the exhaust?

Without doing anything like removing the front bolt fixing the exhaust to the engine?, i have the Y piece halfway out, but still another inch to go, its loose enough but obviously locks up when i try to twist it

When I took my original Y piece out I had to remove the bolt holding the main exhaust to the engine block so that I had enough wriggle room to get the Y piece out and also free up the Y from the main section. Having being clamped in place for many years with a over tight U clamp it has dented both parts forming a groove/ridge that was difficult to separate.

It would have been much easier if I had just removed the main exhaust.

The Clive for Y piece is much easier to get in and out as the bit where the cat should be is narrower which give even more wriggle room. I can get that out without even undoing the bolt in to the block. I also seem to remember that the end of the Clive Y piece is a little bit shorter so there is less to get in and out.

Its out, the secret was to take the dog for a walk, it came out easily afterwards wobble

Both precats are moving but i guess i have to completely wreck them to get then round the bend, but its a start

You won't get the precats round the bend, I used a 25mm holesaw to remove the bulk of the material from the middle of the cat to enable the outer to collapse into the now available space. With the use of long nose pliers and a screwdriver, carefully remove what's left of the precat avoiding any contact with the lamba sensors. Not an easy task by any means, offen resulting in much cursing and swearing including the loss of skin to knuckles and hands thumbup

All done, but i didnt get on with masonry drills, standard steel ones worked much better for mesmile

Now its just getting that Y piece back in to look forward to.

Just for confirmation, theres nothing else i need to do is there?, no set up or running changes?

I don't think so. Clive will have sent you a variable resistor with the Y piece. But with the lambdas still in, you need the standard setting anyway. You may need ratchet straps and a rubber hammer to get the manifolds linked to the Y piece. They Y is very accurately made, it's just the awkwardness of the fitting.

I'm not fitting a new Y piece yet, I will just refit the original and see how it is, maybe a Clive Y next, but one step at a time😊
