Doors not opening????

Help...Help.... just gone to open my P&J and the door solonoids are activating but not opening the doors. I would appreciate if somone would mail me the secret tip of getting into the car appreciate this is sensative info but I am really stuck now as what to do. Also appreciate some guidance on what could be wrong with my door release as I said the solonoid is operating but doors not opening.

This probably won't help much, but I am new to TVR ownership and I noticed today that, having locked the car with the remote fob, the door solenoids still activate when you press the door openers, but the doors won't open, which is what you have described.

What I suppose I am saying is it could be a problem with the alarm.

If you have a chim the details on how to get in the "secret" way are in the owners handbook.

alarm activates and appears to open the car (LED on dash and steering column go out??? so assume not an alarm problem.

I have owners manual and cannot see 'secret get in info' anywhere.

yeah I tried sending one too Al and no joy.

Dave, have a look at the car and just have a think about potential points you can "get in" - it should be fairly self evident.

As to the door locks, afriad I cant offer much help. Its unlikely both solenoids would go at the same time so that seems strange.

Thats really weird, my Little M has been playing up like this, it did it on the Northants run last week. And it started again this morning. My key fob flashes when I press the unlock button. But as you have said it just wont unlock. I have to resort to putting the key in the lock & opening manually which then sets the alarm off. It starts & I can drive it but the alarm button it constantly lit up. I have taken it to Toyota twice now, but of course it is as good as gold at the garage. I am due another vist for a service in 2 weeks. Its driving me mad, I also had RAC come out & again when they arrive it unlocks without a problem.

just got the passenger door open so in now thanks for all your help. Have just got back from a blast round the block now the passenger door is good however the hazard warning lights have a mind of their own and keep coming on I'm convinced it's all related to the drivers door solonoid and the alarm????

Sounds like the alarm to me, that's why I mentioned it before.
When I went to have a look at my car, there was a problem with the remote locking and when we went for a test drive the hazard warning lights kept coming on and would only go out if you stopped and reset the alarm.
Needless to say went to the alarm doctor before purchase and touch wood...........

Sounds like an alarm problem to me too. I had the same symptoms with the hazards when I first got my car. I soon realised the alarm was going off as I was driving but my siren had packed up.

check the switches underneath the door. They are plastic switches in the bottom of the door well - a sort of plunger to electronically tell whether or not the door is closed. Because of where they are they can get full of crap and not work correctly. Worth a quick squirt of WD40 and a wipe if nothing else.
