Now I'm getting to know this car a bit better, I have some more questions.
1) Speedo
Woefully inaccurate. At 80mph (speedo), my actual speed is 71 (gps), at 50mph, actual = 43-45. The speedo doesn't even register below 10mph
Is this fixable, or another quirk?
2) 5th gear
Funny this one. Sometimes I feel a bit of a thud from underneath as I go from 4th to 5th. If I hold the clutch down for longer, the thud isn't as pronounced. It doesn't seem to be a clunky diff, as when the car is in gear I can stamp the accelerator whenever I like and the delivery is nice and smooth. Is this just my gear change technique that needs practice?
3) Doors
I heard both doors click the other day, as I was *ahem* testing the accelerator. Whats happening there then? I was aware that the car did something to the doors at speed.
4) Speedo and Rev counter
The steering wheel obscures my view of the top left of the speedo. Is it possible to swap the two around in the dash? I have tried adjusting my position on the seat, but I find myself pressed up against the door to see the speedo properly, and 1 minute later I'm back in my normal comfortable position.
5) Gearstick
Does the gearstick allow you to go straight from 4th/5th into reverse? My last car had 6th gear where reverse is now, and I'm a little worried that one day I'll forget and move it from 4th into reverse at speed!

My speedo is about 5 mph out so I can only presume it is a Tiv trait!
Did the doors click because you had accidentally touched the button on the knob that opens the doors, I sometimes brush it accidentally and the doors lock!
As to the rest of them....far too technical for me and as a shortArse I have no problems seeing the dials, only reaching the pedals!!!

An obvious one, but have you adjusted the steering wheel up or/and down?

I was told by the person I bought mine off that you had to engage first before you could go into reverse. I have since found out that this was not true, but thankfully only when stationary and selecting reverse. (Don't think I really want to try it whilst moving.)
Looked in the bible and it does not say, just says that engageing reverse can be a bit grindy and difficult.
No doubt other much more knowledgeable members will let you know.
I agree with the earlier post that the likely source of the clicking noise at speed was that your left arm hit the little button on top of the door knob, I'm always doing it (and yes, it can be a little disconcerting 
).
The thing about going from first to reverse is more what is advised as opposed to what it necessary. You can go straight from neutral to reverse but unless you're lucky with the gears the 'box may make a lovely crunchy noise, just right when you pull up outside somewhere with lots of people watching your lovely car and you try to reverse in but end up looking like a monkey. It's easier to stick it in 5th and then pull back to reverse. And probably kinder to the 'box too! As far as I can tell all TVR speedos are a little out, probably not a bad thing, especially at higer motorway speeds, it may help prevent getting 3 points one day.

Tried adjusting the wheel, its at maximum tilt. The door thingy, well it wasn't the central locking it was an entirely different sounding click, from both doors, above 100mph.
As for the gearbox thing, what I'm worried about is selecting reverse at speed. Most cars won't let you do this, I just wondered if the Chim was the same.
Oh yeah, another thing (tired last night after 9 hours driving), occasionally I've only been able to put 97 in the tank. Is this ok every so often? I've found that the car doesn't really mind too much, but does cough a little bit in 5th at about 40/50 when I do.

You'd need to be seriously strong to get the 'box into reverse at speed, it might whine a bit if you tried to do it but I really doubt you could engage the gearing, even at low speeds.
Mind you, it would be interesting to see it happen, the cogs would probably spread themselves over a few counties

I've also checked the speedo against GPS from approx 30 up to 100 leptons and it is exactly spot on!

Won't notice difference between 97/98. Mine have never liked ordinary though.It's about all you can get in Italy. Had a keep the car in one gear lower than usual to avoid pinking on a revent trip. (Great in the tunnels!
