To me, that looks as if it might even have emerged from within the tyre... if those are shards of the carcass protruding? Bizarre whatever - have you tried pulling it out to see what the other end is like?

how does it happen?.. my mate once got a 20mm dia bolt through the side wall of his motorbike tyre???... no idea how confused

I did catch a glimpse of something on the road prior to contact.

Its 13mm, and complete.

A magic TVR tool kit.

I found a 10mm combination spanner in the n/s door of mine the first time I had the card off - that was a Snap-On smile

Unbelievable what you find on the roads, this happened to me a year ago when the car was only 3 months old, lucky I wasn't in the TVR, I could have been killed!
