Is the general consensus that 'p' clips are the preferred option when replacing fuel and brake pipes? What have people used as the fixing? Basic stainless self tapping screws?
Seems a shame to drill holes in the chassis somehow but that must be better than those dreaded cable ties?

Cable ties are ace, defo no drill holes, Tvr started making money when they discovered cable ties,,, use big chunkie ones and they.ll last years.

If you come up with a worthwhile solution let us know but the truth is the cable ties are in an area that's gets wet, it's very quick and easy to cut em off for work etc and they don't add corrosion.

Just my pennies worth. smile

We use cable ties on our chassis refurbs but at each point where a tie is used the pipe first has a sleeve fitted to space the pipe off of the chassis tube so that it can't chafe. The sleeve is nothing more than a slightly larger screen wash pipe slit lengthwise.

If you're good you put a few sleeves on the brake pipe before you flare the second end wink

Everyone has their own ideas but personally I hate cable ties and prefer to use stainless rubber line p clips.
I don't see any issue with drilling the chassis if you apply some grease/wax to the area afterwards.

Drilling and using self tappers or another such fixing, no problem if you drop a blob of mastic in the hole before you apply screw or water will eventually get in! wink

I just can't see the point as you'll be introducing another area of risk if you ever need to remove screws, drilling out broken off fixings ain't no fun but if that's ones preferred method,,, it's a free world smile

can someone invent a cable tie to locate onto the chassis, but with a built in plastic or stainless steel "P"clip for the fuel of brake pipe, so no chassis drilling required, so your not creating another area of possible corrosion in years to come.

Just Google imaged it, but nothing has come up to fit the bill, dragons den next stop smile
