New mate for beastie
Discussion
So, the old VR6 is getting the tinworm although it's still well salvageable, I love the damn thing it really is a great little car, and she fulfils the role of go anywhere, leave it anywhere, fill it full of rubbish and go down the tip... admirably... But they don't hold value, she's going to need a few bob spent on stuff in the next twelve months, I'm building an extension next year so something I can throw stuff in and tow a trailer (trips to the builders merchants), plus I need a change, and a whole host of bloke reasons and man maths has led me to this.. possibly the ultimate partner to a TVR... and I've kind of fallen in love.... taking it to a specialist for a once over (and a lengthy test drive) this Wednesday.....
Wotcha think chaps? Good idea?... I bloody love it...
sorry for crap photo...

Diseasel or RV8?
And how's your back these days?
And how's your back these days?

300 Tdi, and back is still knackered Anthony

Ironic that getting up into the Defender then climbing down to get out of it is the exact (painfull) opposite of getting down into beastie then climbing up to get out of her... I am however of the opinion that any car that can be got in to and out of without any pain whatsoever is going to be dull, slow, and boring.... Bit like a Porsche then.....

He is a funny bloke that Qbee I have to admit,
Love it, but save money you won't!
Saying that I've a mate who's had one for years and he says it's very reliable.
Won't a ford escort van do that work your talking about
Go for it I say,
We're here for a good time, not a long time!
Your a long time dead,
This ain't a dress rehearsal, this is the real thing.

Shame on you Al....

I'm really kind of into the idea of having an MG, a Land Rover, and a TVR.... no foreign crap for me

Keep it British....
Bike next year, It'll be a Triumph, a Norton, a BSA, or a Matchless.... I have to admit though I do love Asian food... and, to an extent (God help me) German engineering.... (and Italian wine) That said, this weekend just gone I sat in my garden and watched an air display which included four of my favourite aircraft.. Spitfire, P-51 Mustang, Catalina Flying Boat, and a B17 Fortress... fecking awesome...
I built Airfix models of all of those when I was a kid some 150 years ago....
Sorry, now rambling....
Very amusing, some air show by the sound of that, mega, Airfix,, weren't they great at provoking the imagination, I went on to Balsa by planes from the First World War, Focker D8 etc but my favourite by far was the Se5A with the Vickers gun mounted above the top wing, rubber band versions
but I used to strengthen the fuselage and oil the rubber bands and at 12 years old I built one with no paint ( light) just dubbing and it flew like a bird, set at a gentle turn angle, into the wind with about 150 turns on the prop and watched it climb to about 200 metres high,, I was 12 remember,,,, ok so it was about 50 metres high, could barely see it, it thrilled the crap out of me,,, I've considered myself an engineer ever since
Now thats rambling,,
I'm selling my awesome but modern Triumph, can't quite bring myself to advertise it but I can't see me riding a bike again, I'm a f
king nutter,,,,,,,,,,, on them
Yeah ok I'm nuts through and through,, it's a Welsh thing, don't say owt or I might blow up
I'm not trying to sell you this bike but it's such a nice thing to ride, the sound is louder than the Tiv and pops just as good,
It's everything Brit bike with a bit of reliability thrown in, and don't drop oil or even burn the stuff, I love it to bits and it gave me an increadable holiday last year, memories for life

The day I arrived back from France,,, feeling arty, 2664 miles in total, my feet vibrated for a week afterwards
The gardens sorted now too
I hope you approve of this baby,,,
The Landie looks great Richard,, enjoy.

Alun, my mate has followed us twice to the Le Mans Classic on his T100 (new Bonnie), and it's always been the perfect combination of reliability and charming character, especially now it has a set of Dunstall pipes.

Don't ever sell the Bonnie
Back on topic a Land Rover is an British automotive icon just like an E-Type or a classic Mini and every British car enthusiast should own an example of each of these three icons at one point in their life.
I've never owned an E-Type but I've had the pleasure of driving many, the classic Mini and my 110 Defender were both cars I greatly regret selling.
Buy the landie Mr Chilly

Might as well Richard.
Having had a load of defenders and Discos over the years, I have nothing but happy memories of them.
The 300 TDI engine is a fantastic, reliable engine. It will go on to 200,000 miles easy.
If you are still looking, don't be put off by the late TD5 engines. My last Disco covered 180k when I sold it, never had anything renewed on the engine apart from a turbo hose.
.
A LR does make a good partner for a TVR. That said, I always ran 3 cars. A daily, an LR for fun/off roading and the chim.
Now economising and have an ML for the first two!
Just before social services stepped in.
