When to replace the cam
Discussion
I had my 95 500 measured at Powers a little while back and got 240 bhp and 295 torque, about 280 of that from 2500rpm, if I replace with a standard or non standard can will I feel the differance?, I am mainly after lazy low down power, ie a kick in the back with high gear low rpm rather than high Rev stuff, any thoughts, the engine has done 74k and I believe it is original, but runs very nicely even at low rpm stuff.

IIRC Powers measure BHP at the wheels, do you have the graph? If I am correct (Classichimi can confirm or deny), then at 18% drivetrain loss that would equate to 293bhp and around 340torques at the flywheel.
If the car runs fine that is good power for a standard 500, so nothing to do.

Leave it alone if its making 240 that's a very healthy 4.0 motor
spend your money elsewhere for your outlay gains will be small even going for stump puller profile
But the OP clearly states he has a 500

You're eyes must be failing you in your old age Simon

I am away from home at the moment so I can't show you the graph, I was hoping someone would now the measurement powers used, it's on a rolling road and measured at the wheels, the guy was god, he guessed 245bhp with my miles, so a very good educated guess.
I hope you guys got some sense from the phone company call centres, I never do😀
Graze, did you measure yours before and after?, if so do you have any data?

No, i did a rolling road session about 5 years ago and was getting 285BHP which I am told was good. I will probably get another session if she doesn't sell. I hope you guys got some sense from the phone company call centres, I never do??

Mine, with further mods, gets 315bhp at the fly, which at 18% drivetrain loss is 258 bhp at the wheels.....
See what I mean?
Paul, you gave said 240 at the wheels, please just confirm that it IS at the wheels, then we can tell you it's pretty good.
Hi QBee, how do I confirm at the wheels, it was done at powers on the rolling road, the print out doesn't give much extra info as far as I remember, but it seems too close to what you have after calculating and I know you have spent some money on yours, I will try and call them tomortow to check.
