Power steering rack seals - DIY ?
Discussion
Hi All,
Is it possible for a DIYer to replace the rack pinion and the top seals on a Chimaera power steering rack.
Had the rack reconditioned at a PH-recommended place just under 2 years ago and it is now p##sing around 100ml of fluid out per day onto the floor.
The OS boot is filling up with fluid and I can see it seeping out from the plate that all of the pipes join into the rack through.
Contacted the refurbishing company and they said it only had a 12-month warranty. They have offered to look at it again super-fast which was good but if they find not their fault, I will have to pay the £300-odd again to have it refurbed.
I see some of the seals are available but not the one for the cover plate as yet.
Cheers.
