The passenger door lock on my 93 4.0 won't operate from the external plunger. Opens OK from inside using the central internal knob. Having looked behind the carpet the rod seems does push down when the door plunger is operated but the door doesn't open. Only thing I can see is that the central locking solenoid isn't connected to the mechanism on this side.....

If the other side works then look at that, it'll be a mirror setup. That should direct you to the issue

It looks like the flange between solenoid and lock mechanism has sheared off so the door is permanently locked from outside (or if I manually change its position behind the carpet unlocked). Have to find a way to attach the solenoid to the mechanism.....

You can weld a small plate back to the mechanism to replace the broken/sheared off piece, have a look in and around the lock area as the broken piece may just be rattling around in there.

you will need to disconnect the electrical plugs and the actuator rods from the lock, undo the screws from the door shut and the whole unit should come out.

Welding is beyond my capabilities sadly. Managed to locate a replacement mechanism via www.hills-motors.co.uk £100 inc VAT and shipping.....
