Is this a daft idea?
Discussion
As title really, I have been trying to remove the boot lid and re seal around the hinges as I am getting water inside the lid and when I open the boot it runs out around the left side hinge, I have tried to remove the screws but they have decided that they would rather stay put, my idea was to drill a couple of small holes through the inside skin and fill the void with expanding foam, thoughts please.
Any pics, is this an early car,
When you have found the source of the water ingress, once dried out use a water proof mastic to seal any leaks rather than foam!
A small dab on bolt threads can seal up anything coming through there, find where it comes in and seal that and it will stop!
My later car has bolts retaining hinges etc no screws that I can think of

Try this stuff, just like water, it seeps into any gaps and then solidifies sealing the gaps from further water ingress. Worked for me on a similar leak issue

Is the crack sealer a watery consistency that I can pour around the hinge joint without affecting the paintwork
Yes but read the instructions. It's a tiny nozzle so getting it into the gap will be easy, if any gets on the paintwork just wipe it off. It's only a sealer, nothing that can react with the paintbobfather said:
