Hello All, (This is already posted on TVRCC) I''m new to this TVR lark and would just like to investigate some prices. I want to bring my 97 5ltr chimp back to `factory'' condition because the carpets are a bit worn and the roof a bit tatty etc, so would like the following work done. New Carpets (every piece of carpet within the car, not boot) Cranberry Red, Grey Piping (to match leather), cranberry red stitching. Solenoid on passenger door. Door switch on driver’s door. (Possible fault, please investigate) Both wing mirrors painted. Complete new roof. 2 * Kickplates (Chimaera 500 logo). Re-trim roof hoop and passenger door pocket material. New rubber for Drivers side window. Investigate and report on CD player. Basically the car belonged to a director from new who moved abroad for a year. It looked like the roof had been permanently down and in the boot, hence the targa was scuffed and the back window was stretched / creased. Because the roof was always down the carpets had faded! The body work and mechanicals are excellent (with FTVRSH) and I bought the car for a stupidly cheep price, so spending this gets me my mint 5ltr at a V Good price! I think the director basically had no love for the car, a case of more money than sense! I got a quote for new carpets and roof at Fernies, and they casually quoted a £1000 + VAT for each! (Why do dealers assume that everybody body with a tiv has that kind of money? After seeing an advert for Peninsula on Piston heads yesterday, I gave them a ring and got a quote for all of the above at £1668.05 + Delivery Charge. I know this is relatively allot cheaper than a dealership, but is it still a good price? Has anybody had experience of Peninsula before? (They almost convinced me to put a set of Cerbera wheels on as well!) Thanks in advance, Rob

Well if your willing to do some of the work your self, you could save alot of money - i know a complete carpet set is about £400 from www.tvrgear.co.uk changing them should be too difficult - if you heat the carpet with a hairdryer, the glue softens and you can peel them up quite easily. I know a good place in chessington that do roofs - not sure if do a TVR or not - i had an MX5 roof replaced by them and they did a great job - ill dig the number out if your interested. cheers Chris

Thanks, The carpet came to 450 + VAT including fitting. As I'm pretty useless at 'fitting' anything, I think that will be a good price. I would be interested in the roof though? Cheers, Rob

Rob, If you get any pictures of the new interior, I'd love to see them. I'm going to go down the same route at some point I think. Ta.

It's magnolia, and looks fine. From a distance... Are you looking at the website pictures or have you seen the car in real life?

Marshy, I'll try and get Peninsula to take some pics as the work gets done. Should be a good advert for them anyway. Car goes in tomorrow and will take about 2 weeks, so hopefully I'll get some pics to you soon. Cheers, Rob

Pete, Bugger it, you've changed your nickname on here, no wonder I didn't realise who you were! I've emailed you.

SwaJack, I think the roof works out at about 550ish + VAT, so probably a slightly better deal. Cheers, Rob

This subject has been touched on a few times but I can't seem to find many recommendations.
I'm really keen to replace all the carpets for my Chimaera's tenth birthday. I'll travel anywhere around the South of England. So, who has been charged how much by whom for what standard?

Cheers, Stu

PS Rob, did you ever start / complete the refurb on your car - can you recommend peninsula or anyone else?

My Chimaera is currently at a trimmers at the moment getting a hair cut - new roof! Bought the hood direct from Autohoods for £300 and then fitting is another £100.... Not bad value there! Much cheaper than the official routes. However, will know about the quality later, but from what I hear it will be better than original.

Cheers,

Paul

Martrim in Cheshire, see advert trade section in TVR Sprint, I've got their number if you want it, did a roof replacement for me in Spring. Can't recommend them enough, did an excellent job and only £350. It's been brilliant too kept dry all through our rainy summer, they did do me a quote as I had smelly carpet syndrome, can't remember how much it was now but after a good dose of febreze seems ok now.
