Chims can handle.......with a few mods!
Discussion
Anthony, (QBee) and I took part in a fun club sprint at Curborough yesterday and the little chim did well.
20+ cars ranging from a couple of quick single seaters, Elise, BeeEmms, Atom, Noble, rally Evo and loads of hot hatches.
IIRC, at about 3.30pm, I was running 3rd overall which I was very pleased with.
Single seater on slicks, 1.21
Race rally Evo, 1.25
Phazed 1.30
Plus all the rest...........
When I left at 4pm I had a quick look at the scoreboard and the Noble put its final run in at 1.29.1, bugger!
All in all a great day with huge front and rear wheel action from the chim. This car is sooo stable.
I tried the neat and tidy approach but times weren't as good.
My best times were heavy braking with much squirming and loss of grip, (easily controlled), tip into bends and max welly out intruducing much rear wheel action, really pleasing experience!
Mods include.
Gaz Mono Dampers with
Eibach 450/400 Springs
5 stud conversion
RL7 wheels 17" & 18" with Federal R595s
Braided hoses
Tuscan big brake conversion with DS2500 pads
Thicker 25mm & 22mm ARBs fitted
Mondeo estate rear rose joint drop links
Leven front drop links
Superflex Polyurethane bushes all round
Tubular front wishbones
Subaru P/S conversion
All wheels pointing in a straight line by Mat Smith Sportscars!

Noble? I think you mean KTM Crossbow...... And I was very impressed that you kept that behind you all day.
I was about 4-5 seconds slower than Phazed all day, which on a 90 second lap is quite a lot. I am not that far behind him on a track day, so clearly this is down to his superior handling skills when the corners are coming thick and fast. Well done my friend.

Nice one Peter, good to be in top 3 - 4 in that line up. I've driven an Atom in the greasy wet at Brands, they squirm a lot under timid driving and stick hard and handle like they are on rails when you tell them who's boss. (The handling of every car improves with tyre heat and showing it who's boss as you know) But those Atoms are so sticky and so bloody light, a chim is never going to keep up. The Nobles are pretty quick too, although I've never driven/been in on to compare. But it's good to see you really can make a chim handle

You should come & show us how it's done in the TVRCC Speed Championships then. 20+ cars ranging from a couple of quick single seaters, Elise, BeeEmms, Atom, Noble, rally Evo and loads of hot hatches.

I think he would enjoy it , both the competition and the social side of it.Amazing to watch the tvrcc challenge cup races as well, with the European challenge, and with being part of this fabulous club you feel part of it yourself even if your not racing, the teams make you feel most welcome looking around the cars and chatting to them, it's a fantastic race series with a TVR family atmosphere!!!
They are racing at goodwood on the 24th Sept, so it's a must for all southern counties to show there support to the marque
, and watch some amazing racing. When you witness the TVRCC chairman his missis and their children waving Union flags as the cars fly by shows the passion that is created.
God only knows what will happen if LE gets us racing at the 24hr again

Its Round 21 , with the TWMC organising this one, for the TVRCC speed championship.
. Wish I was back back living in Surrey as I would have enjoyed watching this event, as Goodwood is amazing place, especially with lots of TVR's flying around

Excellent thanks for the info. I'm a Goodwood member so hopefully can get in. And yes it certainly is an amazing place.

Excellent work sir. Will we be seeing you at Hethel on the 25th? I'd like to know where you sourced your thicker ARB's from.
Who's going to Hethel on 25th Sep? I assume it's a trackday? I might pop in and have a chat on my way home.
A question for Peter (Phazed) if I may?
I see your Mondeo estate rear drop links are double jointed, the upper end where it bolts to the wishbone has a ball joint rather than the crude double rubber bush idea.
This seems like a far better design than the the ones I've been looking at, I'm thinking simply choosing the double rubber bush design just because follows what TVR gave us doesn't make it the best choice.
My question is simple... "what exactly was required to make your double ball joint Mondeo estate links fit?"
Thanks in advance, Dave.
