This year has been very successful with no major incidents or breakages.
Ive been running the new 5.0 engine and only used a little nitrous from time to time.
This new engine has cost me a small fortune with an ACR block and crank, forged rods and pistons, reworked 500 heads by Dave Knight, solid Crower cam, yella terra rockers and a host of other brand new parts. The uprated T5 gearbox was also rebuilt again this year by John Reid.
The engine was mapped at 330 bhp when it was fresh and tight and ran a terminal speed of 108. Since then it has loosened up and now runs 116 so is obviously producing a fair bit more grunt.
A fellow TVR owner damaged his 4.0 a few weeks ago and has made me an offer to buy my engine complete with the gearbox and management.
So its a simple question, shall I take the ofer and make inroads on going LS?

Probably need to know your main objective in doing so but my opinion is
If your goal is to become the fastest TVR then keep your current engine.
If your goal is the fastest TVR hybrid then sell and replace with a LS engine.
This is not a debate on the suitability that a LS engine is to keeping a TVR pure.If your goal is to become the fastest TVR then keep your current engine.

Ive already proved the worth of the Rover V8 but I now have bigger goals and much faster cars I want to race. the Rover as sweet as it is simply wont cut it. I need a LOT more power.
This is a leap for me and I know its going to cost but the offer on the table will see me a fair way to making the LS swap happen. It has to be done right though so wont be cheap!
If you are happy to continue to compete as you have done this year by dialing in slower times with the NA RV8 then you may as well get you moneys worth out of the RV8 and keep it going for a few more seasons.
Knowing you though Derek, I think you will be wanting to go to the next level and to do that you have to go either GM V8 or Ford V8. You always said that you all run the NA RV8 for a season and then move onto LS. You have proved you can get down into the 10's with a RV8 and you have proved you can reliably run an RV8 for a whole season including all the shows and win. The LS will be an interesting next chapter I reckon Derek. Perhaps you should consider the opportunity to move the RV8 on if you have someone interested who understands it's specification and value that is willing to give you a fair price for it.

Answered your own question, unless for some reason you can't go turbo with the RV8 then a LS is the next best option. Once you go that way though when do you stop?
A turbo on your current engine would be a possible way forward but I suspect that your RV8 compression ratio wont be turbo compatible Derek. Certainly not at the boost required to keep you happy.
So in that respect, if you are certain you want to move on to bigger things you are at the end with your engine.
Sell it and Go for that LS.

The turbo or supercharge option is a no go really. This motor is at 11:1 CR and working too well to change now.
I am used to the nitrous taking me to over 500 bhp and wanting to step up from that level by a fair margin so guess an LS as a starter for that 500 bhp then to decide whether to turbo that or continue with the nitrous option.
A lot to consider but exciting times ahead

I'll just leave this hear: http://london.en.craigslist.co.uk/ptd/5779445345.h...
It sounds to good to be true so if it does exist I'd take a few mates to help you collect it just in case. There's LS7s on there too for just over £2k! After buying it in the states & shipping I don't see how they are making any money, unless it was sourced illegally. Definitely buyer beware, but the end result I think would give you the platform you need to be competitive and handle any future upgrades.
