Hi all.
For some strange reason I am still wanting to fit some BBS style wheels on my Chimaera.
Lenso alloys in the correct offset and colour seem to be like hens teeth at the moment, Calibre only do a 7x16 front rim so that leaves Dare wheels, I would love a set of genuine BBS RS wheels or even some Image ones but at nearly £4K for the former and pushing £3K for the latter both are out of my league.....
Whilst researching th ewheel options it has become apparent that tyres for our cars are becomung harder to obtain too. From the factory my car has 225/50/15 fronts and 245/45/16 rear tyres. The latter is apparently really too wide for the 7.5" rim.
I would be happy with 16" wheels all round, 225/45/16 on the front and the standard 245 on the rear. However, Lenso only do 7.5" rims with the correct offsets, Calibre only 7" rims and Dare do both 8" and 9" rims but only in ET25 and ET20 respectively. I think 9"x16" rims on the rear would look lovely but I don't think these would fit... In all honesty it looks like fitting 245/40/17 tyres on the back. Calibre do a 8"x17" wheel which would be ok although only a 7" wide front, Lenso an 8.5" rim which is still out of stock after three months and Dare do an 8"x16" front and an 8.5"x17" rear. The only thing with the DAre rear whell is that the offset is ET30. Has anyone fitted an ET30 8.5"x17" rim on the rear and an 8"x16" Et25 front rim to a Chimaera?
Tyre are another matter all together! Even a humble 225/45/16 front tyre is getting harder to come by and there are few makes that have matching rears in 245/40/17. Toyo do not do matching tyres in these sizes and the only ones I can find are the Yokohama AD08R. Has anyone used these? they look like a semi race tyre to me so my gues is they may not last long....
I am not a boy racer at heart I just like the classic look of the BBS rims but maybe I should just leave well alone! All comments appreciated thank you.
Regards Chris.
