Having spent more than I would like to count servicing my last 4 TVR's in the dealer network, I have decided that it's time to use a specialist. If anyone could recommend a good Independent in a 40 mile radius of Stevenage (Herts) I would be very grateful.

The Offord Motor Company (www.offord.com and various banner ads on this site) are between St Neots and Huntingdon. I use them to service my Saab and plenty of people on PH use them for their TVRs.

Good prices but tell them in writing what you want done, and check afterwards that they've done it. Attention to detail not good, so keep your wits about you.

And don't expect the courtesy car to be up to much - I had to get the AA out to mine!

Can you elaborate more about Offord simpo without falling foul of Ted's no-shaming rule as I will probably get them to service the Chim when it's due ... forewarned is forearmed etc.

Email me off forum if you like.

very true, have fallen foul myself on 3 seperate occasions, I think it's just a case of a huge workload, I am taking mine there for a service tomorrow though so watch this space

Offord are very good, however I'd say they are probably victims of their own success. They are really busy these days which is why they cannot service my new car until next week..GRRR.

I would say that they have never missed anything on my car in the 3 and a bit years they have been looking after it I think a lot of it depends who you talk to and I must say I do always ask them to tell me what has been done before I go and pick the car up but I'd do that where ever it was going.

Their fleet of Saabs is in the process of being updated and I always think they are a laugh and an excuse to buy big things that I cannot fit in the TVR.

The best thing about them however is that they are honest, they will give you the gory detail of what is wrong with your car and an honest opinion of what you should do about it (unlike many garages who will just say it has to be done).

Get yourself over sometime, have a chat with Simon see what you think.
