Door mirror problem

The O/S door mirror on my chim has died. On removal and strip down the Aluminium casting inside the case has cracked in two, and can no longer support the mirror. The dealership want a small fortune for new, however from what I've heard the Alu. casting is from a citroen, but I don't know which one - does anybody out there know which one, or from what car the door mirrors are actually taken from!

Loads of threads covering mirrors once the search facility is back up but if I remember rightly (and I usually don't ) the citroen was the BX but think some later years also used VW Corrado mirrors.

Definitely not worth paying out dealer prices, you can probably buy an entire BX for what they would want

Depends where it has cracked, but it can sometimes be bodged back together with a big bolt and big washers.

There was a one for sale in the classified yesterday IIRC.

Why ponce about on ebay, this one is only a pound dearer at £86.
