Does anyone know how the seat back cover comes off? The usual hog-rings are behind this tricky little detail at the lower rear of the seat. How do I separate this vee shaped joint carefully without breaking anything - as I need to do it up again afterwards?

Also, to separate the seat from the back, is it a simple matter of undoing these two lower bolts on one side and removing the plastic cover (with presumably two similar bolts underneath) on the other side?

If I recall correctly, the joint you've identified as a Vee separates easily as it's only held together by tension between the two parts. Just pull the parts together and the tension in the joint will relax enough to separate it.
And yes, the two parts of the seat separate by undoing the four bolts.
I fitted carbon fibre heat pads in my seats. They are just in the main (centre) pad as I decided that doing the side bolsters was going to be a bit too fiddly. Nice mod for colder open top days.

Can I ask where you got the pads from, and how you wired them?

Pads are a two seat kit from Waeco, MagicComfort MH60. Cost is around £70 - £80. It pays to shop around but they appear to be best quality I could find. Bought on ebay from a Landrover specialist!

Switches are located on underside of dash (similar to driver's side boot switch and panel lights) just to keep them out of the way and retain the standard look. I can't comment on the wiring as my specialist installed that during the last service. Simple enough job by all accounts, wired to ignition circuit so you cant leave them on when exiting the car.

Wires run under central arm-rest and exit at the rear for unobtrusive look but also quick connection to seat pads. Seat pads aren't in yet but all has been tested and they come up to heat pretty quickly. Of course, I'm far too much of a real man to need these things (!) but Mrs B will be very pleased during the winter months as she has become very used to heated seats in our daily. smile

Thanks for that Mr Mist. I will have a go at clean separation. thumbup

I think I also used a similar kit bought from fleabay. I made some notes and took some pics when I did mine - thinking that I'd write it up for Sprint. I'll have a hunt for them. I do recall that there was space for an extra relay under the dash to put power to two plugs under the centre console (Pink/white trace) left in the landrover wiring loom. I put an extra multiplug onto the wiring for the seat pads to make it easier to take the seats out in future. I'll send a PM with whatever I can find.

Isnt there a space allocated in the fuse / relay box for heated seats?, I thought I had seen that on dome models
