exhaust manifolds

iam cleaning up the engine bay of the chim and its starting to look great but bloody hard work.
Has anyonbe painted / sprayed the exhaust manifolds in the engine.
If you have any pics and what did you paint / spray with due to the extreme temps. I have seen some spray paint for exhaust manifolds that says it will take up to 500 degrees. But is that enough. If its going to peel Iam dont want to waste the time

My headers run up to about 350 deg C at tickover and a lot hotter than that under power, so I doubt 500 deg will be adequate.

I've got an infra red thermometer. I'll measure the temperature of my manifolds tomorrow when the car is good and hot and let you know the result.

I'm cleaning the engine bay also. Your not wrong about it being hard work.

The Hycote black exhaust paint seems to last OK , rated to 650 degrees C .
I've used it in the past with no problems.

An alternative is to go the ceramic coating route.

Ceramic is well worth it IMHO.

NTel, its really hard to point the IR onto the manifolds at full chat, would be interesting if you did it on a RR.
