Chim tyres

as a newcomer to tvr was wondering what tyres are best. just fitted toyo proxies all round, only to be told they,ll be knackered in a week.well, ok, a bit longer, but not much. which are best ?

Done 6000 on mine & they are still going strong. +they are a revelation in warmer climes & really hot :-) But were impossible to cure in cold weather - just couldnt get any heat into them.

Sorry mate, but whoever told you that is talking complete wk.

Tyres on a high performance sports car aren't going to last as long as on your average Eurobox (but you knew that when you bought it, right?). But that really is a bit of over-exaggeration.

As to which are best, do a search of the forums, there's been plenty of debate lately.

FWIW, if I had to replace my tyres tomorrow, I'd be going for the Toyos...

From the comments on here looks like the Toyo's wear well relatively for the type of tyre.

agreed sod all wrong with toyos mine have been great no issues at all.

Just ordered a full set of toyo's for my Chim after reading all the comments....narrowed the search down to SO3's, F1 Eagles and Proxes. Must admit final decision came down to price but only after deciding that the final 3 where the most suited to the car.

All up price for standard rims on my chim for the toyo's is £360.

I've just replaced my fronts with Toyo's and will do the same when I've chewed up the rears.

SO3s stocks are dwindling fast - not all sizes widely available. So grab 'em while you can.

If you are replacing just two tyres on one axle for the last of the SO3s. Be aware that invariably you ain't gonna be able to get SO3's at a later date for the other axle.

glad to hear they wont be worn out this side of summer. got them from image wheels in tipton when i bought new billet alloys. 4 toyos for £360.00 seems a fair price. peter

seems to be the going rate, I paid £83 each fitted etc. They seem fine to me, although I'm still wearing them in!

Had Toyo's on (replaced S02s) for a couple of weeks. Bloody marvellous - they stick like glue. IMHO I wouldn't touch S03s
