OK... Mate of mine (not on PH) wants to replace his roof. It's all rather tatty, including the top panel . How water proof it is, I've no idea but it was out in the rain last night, so we'll see.

He's found a DIY kit marketed by a company in Romford for £245. Has anyone here replaced their own roof. How difficult? Any snags? Should he attempt it with average DIY skills and no previous hood experience.

Is it the mazda place? Heard nothing but good things about them, I live not far away and was going to use them when I eventually do mine.

Not as simple as it may seem...at least to get a good finish. The targa is not too difficult but finishing over the hood at the top edge is tricky, as you stretch and tension it over the top hoop you need to cut/stitch seams to get it fitting correctly, at leadt thats what I found. The rest is reasonably straight forward.

That's the one. Would be interesting to know how much they charge to fit.

They've recently moved to a much bigger place in Romford, they used to be around the back of Gallows Corner. Every time that I drive past the place is packed so they definitely fit a lot, it looks like a good workshop from the road. I've heard they're a proper friendly bunch in there so will probably give good pointers on what to do to make a good job of fitting it, ask for a fitting price though because I'm interested too if it's cheap enough thumbup

I may ask out of curiosity- but my mate lives in Scotland, so it may not be the most convenient location for a fitted job!

Keep an eye out on eBay a guy local to me in Birmingham has been selling chimaera hoods.. Got mine in black for £180 including material for targa. I believe a guy on the fb group picked one up for £68 in blue! The joys of eBay bidding.
Of course then you have the fee to get it fitted..

A bit more expensive now it would seem, £450 for the lot - delivered!

Yeah i think that place is 'thehoodguys' there based in birmingham about 20minutes away from me, they have come recommended as they do a fair few TVR hoods all fitted as well. The guy i got mine off always puts them up on auction with no reserve laugh (ouch) definitely worth hawking ebay for
