Hi Robin
That looks great, your first photo looks like mine are now.
So the paint you used wasn't even high temp stuff?, just standard car body paint?
Could i also ask what you used to clean the rockers up with and how you masked the top clear sections?
Thanks
Paul
You can normally get away with regular paint on rocker covers just make sure they are properly degreased and you don't go too thick with the paint and lacquer. That looks great, your first photo looks like mine are now.

As for the silver sections you wont be masking them you merely flat them back with some wet and dry on a block or use a DA sander with some 1000 grit paper on it..

I used a combination of wire brushes, Nitromors and then degreaser to clean and prep them. Then standard off the shelf Halfords spray cans, bare metal primer, Ford Purple Velvet, clear laquer.
I can't remember now how many coats but I basically just kept going with lots of light coats until the colour looked deep enough. Then let them dry for a day or so sitting on a radiator in the house. Then as Nick says, no masking required just wrap a flat sanding block, lump of wood etc, with fine wet and dry and rub down the top of the raised fins. Then once happy that I'd got all the paint and primer off those bits and they were smooth enough, I covered the whole lot in several coats of clear laquer.
Oh and the badges were just sitting on in the picture, fixed right way round once the rockers were back on the car.
I called Jawal, yes they can make that into a spray can, but they had more questions, ie do i need acrylic or 2 pack?, he also wasnt very happy to do a non VHT version when i told him it was for rocker covers, apparently there is someone that will do a VHT version but he couldnt remember who, any ideas?, although it has been stated that its not needed i might as well go high temp if im having it made up anyway.
The finish on mine looks like like a smooth matt, is that correct for the original?

I used this company in Brighton to make up a tin of spray paint when no one else could even find the colour. A really helpful chap took the order and the match is really very good. Large tin of aerosol delivered was about £20.The finish on mine looks like like a smooth matt, is that correct for the original?
