A couple of mystery pics
Discussion
Still putting the ole girl back together, and have found a couple of connections that don't appear to have anything for them to plug into.
One spade connection to the starter. There is already one spade connection above the main red(+) as seen with a blue wire. This comes from the cabin.

And a lambda sesnor connection. There are already 2, one on each bank, that are going to each manifold. So why a third?

Is this an extra one for wideband or something?
Any help greatly appreciated as always.
Thanks
Cad

The blue wire will be what makes the starter start. The spare terminal is used if you need a 12v supply to a ballast resistor coil while the engine is being cranked (you don't) .
This is why I love the Chimaera forum
Muchas gracias chaps.
One more thing... then I promise I won't ask any more questions today
I need to refill my gearbox as the balloon I had over the output shaft tore and let most of the fluid out during engine install.
Can I refill it through the hatch at the top, effectively over filling it, then undo the refill hole on the side and let the excess fluid drain out to the correct level? It just saves me having to do it the messy way from the side, whilst I have the top part off.
Arrow in pic below shows what hatch I'm speaking of:

Thanks again.

No, but you could remove the big cover (further forward)..... or just put it in the hole it's meant to go in
Will the fluid not find it's way there to the main casing then? I only ask as I can see red fluid in that square hatch. Probably from where it was tilted putting the engine in.caduceus said:

I'm not familiar with that particular gearbox (so may be I should just butt out) but normally that area, where the gear lever engages with the selector rod is packed with grease and is sealed (selector rod goes through an oil seal)from the main gearbox? Yours may be different, in which case I'm talking nonsense!
Here is a pic of said area with an arrow pointing to the hole where the fluid drains through. I have poured about half a litre in so far and it has drained through, to somewhere
The theory is, there was red fluid in there already. So if it's made it's way there from where I put it into normal home in the main casing, is should go back there.

But you're going to have to undo the fill hole on the side to drain it to the correct level anyway??
Get a decent size syringe with a long bit of pipe on it, they're only about £5 and useful for loads of crap like this. Gearbox, diff, sucking fluid out after doing eazibleed on the brakes. .. saves loads of mess
