Flexible fuel lines... the ones above the bell housing (to fuel rail) are an especial fire risk when perished.

Presuming they do mean the fuel pipes (and was the suggestion that they would have them done prior to the sale?) what kind of gobble-de-gook expression is that?

Yes totally agree, you can't let someone drive that car away if there's a risk. It's the dealers obligation,
My view would be ok you want such and such for this car, fix this and that and you might have a deal.

Surely it's upto the sellor to ensure the car is road going and safe, if it's a Tvr dealer then they know about this issue and experienced Tv mechanics should be able to replace them in no time.
They should have been replaced before your friend got anywhere near the car.
Rant over wink

Thank you all for your comments and help on this one, my friend has offered on the car as long as these pipes are replaced and car is serviced.

Mine came from the dealer like this.
Lucky for me, I popped over to see a guy called Alex a few days later, who offered to help me install a new radio, and he checked the car over and spotted these....and the number 8 plug lead off too. He gave me a fire extinguisher for the journey home.

Car came with about 15 faults, all remedied by the guy I was sent to for servicing.
My car was the last TVR sold by the dealer......and it showed.

Not a nice read but there is a link to some fuel hose later on that may interest. May be the same as everyone uses but worth a look.

That dealer doesn't sound too helpful. May be a good idea to make sure he is aware of this (below) and also that there are three hoses in this location to be changed, not just the two you see in the picture.

It's fking obvious though isn't it Dave, tossers!

I've been close to loosing a good friend over this sort of thing, he sells cars, it's not easy I know, but he'd do as little as possible and often cars were sold with known issues,
I've battled with him over this stuff and ethics, I've not left it with him either, I've battered his salesman and both the mechanics over it, the mechanics totally understand their responsibilities and the need to build a solid reputation,
After a number of vehicles being returned, one with an MOT and then found to have rust holes in structural areas,
To my friends great credit he totally sorted these vehicles out or replaced like for like but the experience hit him hard.
The mechanic didn't sleep for days as he lives his job, is a great mechanic but rushing about and being asked to speed up MOT's didn't help.
I've had a good chat with the mechanic, we are also good friends and we share something in we raced the same machinery as youths, often bark on about our brilliance etc, we have a right good laugh and have a deep respect for each other, I put the moral duty onto him,
It's worked, the cars are now prepared to the highest standard, anything found to be suspect is remedied before the customer leaves with the car.
In the last 6 months the business is flourishing and sales have risen and returns have deminished to zero!

A dodgy fuel line is a dodgy fuel line, it simply has to be replaced asap!

I can't believe I'm even hearing this really!

I hope the poxy dealer is listening.

The poxy dealer who sold me my car no longer sells cars as far as I know.
The guy who sorted out all the problems they left me with is still a very good friend.
And is presently getting my car ready for the 2017 fun season

Totally right in what you say though Alun, responsibility should be taken by some of these fkwit dealers who are only concerned in making money, its not just dealers either as some of these so called TVR garages/service centres can leave a lot to be desired with some of the storieseek i have heard in my 6 years of ownership, i have a few of my own tales to tell furious
