My handbook also says 205/60 (96 N reg with PAS). I don't think you can get Z rated 60 profiles anymore except maybe Bridgestone RE71's or Pirelli's (but there are posts of these fouling the wheel arches).

The aim here is to retain the outer diameter. If you review tyre manufacturers web sites you will find that a 205/55/15 by one manufacturer may be the same outer diameter as a 205/60/15 by another. I have found this between tyres by the same manufacturer. It is often only a few mm and far less than the change that will occur through normal tyre wear.

No. To try to clarify you have two op tions: the Chimp set up of 205/60/15 front with 225/55/16 rear or one of the two Griff set ups of 205/55/15 front and 225/50/16 front or 225/45/16 rear. (To complicate things even more there are other Griff set ups but those are the two main ones.)

usually the PAS cars have the other Griff set up but no problem with that one, especially in the wet.

It's more normal to limit the front to rear diff in tread width to 30mm but Griffs were sold with the combination that you have on your car so IMHO it should be OK although you might consider fitting 225/50s on the front when you need new tyres.

Sounds to me like teh best option is
Goodyear GSD3s 225/55/R16 on the rear
Goodyear GSD2s 205/55/R15 on the front
However I might ask about fitting 245s on the rear (do goodyears come in theat size???) If not would mixing goodyears on the front and bridgestones on the rear be a good/bad idea???
Anyways tomorrow I will pop along to micheldever then take the rest of the afternoon off to go kitesurfing....

I wanted to keep the 205/55/15 tyres on the front as I was very happy with the way the steering felt and it doesn't tramline (My BMW has wider lower profile tyres and I have trouble using the inside lane on the A1 as its too rutted).
If I was going to take it on the track or the roads were better than they are I would have prefered the 225/50/15 option, this is just my personal thoughts not based on any comparison.
I've got Toyo T1-S ZR's all round.
