Heater Fan

Does anybody know which car donated its heater fan to the 1993 4.0HC?

Previous threads "think" it might be a Vauxhall Cavalier/Vectra or a Nova but I'd like to be sure.

The car has been stored over the cold spell and is now ready to come out and play however when i turn on the fan, nothing happens for a few seconds and then the fuse blows. i am assuming that the fan is seized and creating enough resistance to blow the fuse?

any thoughts helpful

Well, high resistance shouldn't blow the fuse. The fan going short-circuit would do that.

If I were you, I'd pull it out, take it to bits, and give it a good clean. Make sure you get plenty of lubricant in the bearing.

If you pull it out, theres going to be a lot of fibreglass in the way, you better start looking for a midget gyneacologist you can force into slave labour...... Seems to be most hated job on the car. You can pop the dash and check resistance across the heater blower motor - 3 circuits to resistor pack. if one is faulty just dont connect it. Not sure but think the resistors are attached to the motor. The later ally knobs may have a different mechanism with integral resistors, but since yours is early..
