Wood or ally dash?

It would seem that the very late Chim/Griffs came with an ally dash in place of the wood veneer.
Personally I think the veneer dash looks better and more in keeping with what is now really an old design, which would you rather have?

I have an ally dash on my yellow (faster) chim with yellow dials it really looks the biz. Must admit I think it all depends on colour of car,interior and dials. Certain colours only suit the wood dash end of day I guess it's down to personnel choice

I am debating this very issue, better half says wood like V8Smith has and I want alu as per Zippee, decisions, decisions!!! Can I have half and half!!

Totally agree. My chim is Crimson Starmist and I think it would look naff with an ally dash.

I think that this makes the point. Now that looks good, but imagine it with a biscuit hide beneath and on top of the dash, which is what I have!

Seems to work on the darker colour dashes though… (eg the dark greys / blacks)

Me too.

The veneer is a bit worse for wear since the dashboard was removed

I think the ally dash would look nice against a dark blue interior and help to lighten it up a bit inside. However, I think I'd miss the 'old-fashioned' wood finish.

JSR - you have early dials, so a nice constrast with the black rings… later cars have silver ones...

I think that is the answer really, silver on silver just doesn't look quite right IMO

Personally I'm giving consideration to changing the green 'cold' led on the heater to blue. Makes more sense to me, as well as changing the bulbs on the headlights/full beam so the colours are stronger.

Mine's navy blue too, defo think the silver dash looks better with darker interior.

Not so good with creamish interiors the wood looks much better.

Will have to get round to ordering one me thinks !!

Also, I wonder if it would be possible to have a steering column cover stitched up, from the same leather as the seats? Bit of piping around the front and back, would look much much better than the black plastic one.

I think you're partly right. I'd agree where the dials are a fairly neutral colour. On the other hand, some cars (like mine) have very strong coloured dials - mine are purple. With the wooden dash I found that the dash and the dials we competing to be the feature. It looks much better with the ally dash. Less cluttered and the dials are allowed to shine forth in peace.

I really like the alloy dash (personal choice again!) where do you get them and how much? My Chim is dark blue and seeing JSR's I think it would look good...

Check the pic in my profile, stainless dash with wood rim wheel and magnolia/blue interior. Car is Cosmos blue by the way. IMHO it looks the nuts.... But then I would say that
