Hi All,

First post here!

I'm a new Chimaera owner, picked a 500 up last week and couldn't be happier!

Anyway, I've replaced the alarm with the Meta HPA plug and play system from AbacusCarAlarms as the previous system was fried. Now it's all gone in ok and seems to function like it should except that when you lock the car via the key fob the doors lock then instantly unlock. Has anyone experienced this before?

Cheers

Will

There is a central locking module under the top dash worth checking its wired correctly to that, also worth checking the door contacts are still good, and while your at it the door knob anti car jack button is working as it should

Thanks for the quick reply!

It appeared to be working ok with the previous key fob on the standard alarm, albeit a bit intermittent. I'll take another look. Bible arrived today so should have the wiring diagram smile
The centre locking button appears to work ok.

another quick look and the centre knob button does the same. I'll investigate the central locking wiring tomorrow!

Remove the door switches and give them a good clean or replace as they are often the cause of door locking problems.

Where they are situated they tend to collect all manner of detritus.

This is exactly what the car should do if you try to lock the car and one of the doors is open. Sounds like a door contact switch has failed or is failing. Try pulling both of the door switches out of the sills and pull one of the wires off each to break the circuit (think it is open circuit for doors shut). Then try arming the alarm.

Thanks very much, great advice there. Just reading in the bible about these switches and thought they might be a guilty party...

At least its not the end of the world...still starts and sounds great!

Hi Will! biggrin

The system won't lock if it thinks the doors are open. You can test this theory by disconnecting the door pins and trying to lock it. I think from memory you can remove the giant yellow interior light relay if you don't fancy taking the door pins out as the current flow goes through the interior light and then down to earth via the door pins, so if you take out the relay you stop the circuit.

All sorted... Stupid reason too, I must have opened the drivers door with the Centre knob by accident and not realised!
