Blue Renovo

I've been giving my roof the full Renovo treatment over the last week. Car is 1999 and hood is originally blue but I have now given 4 coats and whilst it is "bluer" than before it's not as blue as I was expecting. How many coats does it need?

I put the last coat on fairly thickly to the extent that the dye took a bit of time to be fully absorbed. Are you supposed to ladle it on or do thin coats? Thin coats seem to ride over the roof without being absorbed. Also anything more than a simple simple brush on seems to produce a foaming effect.

Am I doing it wrong or what?

Any pointers gratefully received. Reckon it needs another two thick coats at the mo....

I would suggest a phone call to Renovo might be beneficial. Ask them the questions, they should be able to answer your questions. OH

I had same results with the blue.

Be interested to hear Renovo's comments.

Personally, I think it's meant for a lighter blue, like the BMW/Saab colours.

I'm convinced the dye is shoe dye (for canvas shoes), but I don't have a really bad hood to try mt theory out on.

If the roof isn't completely clean of dirt it won't ever come up the original blue.
I pressure cleaned my roof first and it came up amazingly clean (ie blue not black). The Renovo then really looked good.
You have to be very careful with the pressure cleaning though so you don't overdo it and damage the roof.

I want to 'treat' my roof but its dark green. The Renovo web site says not available in green. Are there other products that are any good?

I too didn't get results as blue as i was expecting when i used it a couple of months back, though to be fair my roof was in pretty good condition anyway.

It's really meant for restoring very faded roofs.
