Fuel Hose replacement
Discussion
morning gents,
been as bodys off, engines out etc makes sense to replace the old fuel hoses, just wondering if anyone has tried these from 'chimaeraparts' if so, do they fit a mk1 chimaera (or are they the same throughout regardless of model)

"Hose : Nitrile/Styrene Butadiene rubber with polyester fibre reinforcement braid.
Hose Inside Diameter (in : cm): 5/16” : 8mm
Hose Outside Diameter (in : cm): 17/32″ : 15mm
Maximum Operating Pressure : 225 PSI
Burst Pressure Min : 900 PSI
Bend Radius Min (in) 2”
Temp range: -40 deg C to + 150 deg C
Compliant with SAE J30R9"

Didn't try those ones, did get a couple of bad ones off of ebay though and ended up using them for water and breather pipes instead. The only one that I can personally recommend is the one sold by tvr parts, it's the only decently priced good quality hose that I've had in the past few months.

I did spot a few on ebay was worried about quality of them, heard about a recent batch of fuel hoses failing, think it was southways who recalled the cars they fitted them onto all back in.Are they just original spec from tvr-parts then? These ones claim..
"SAE J30R9 compliant performance composite rubber fuel hoses, this fuel hose is an up to date improvement on the factory fit hoses, constructed of composite NBR/SBR braid reinforced rubber for use with modern higher ethanol fuels. The fuel hoses are rated at 150 degrees Celsius with a working pressure of 225 psi."
Chimaerapartsonline is a private seller, nothing to do with TVR Parts, you therefore don't have the expected level of buyer protection. That said those hoses are good quality and definitely good for this duty. I would swap the nasty worm drive clips for some of these, they maintain their circular form better and are capable of far higher tightening loads

I couldn't tell you if the tvr parts ones are as original fitment as my car was fitted with a mix of gates and unknown stainless braided stuff. The hose that tvr parts sent me had a fabric type braid on the outside and a couple layers of stitching inside that I could see when I cut it with a saw so may be the same.
The ebay rubbish had just one thread of something inside reinforcing it and could be cut into pieces with a knife. It had all of the proper stamping on it though, I wouldn't trust any ebay fuel lines now.

A read of the ad would suggest the kit comes with a choice, 6 of each included, worm drive and clamp. As for "will they fit a Mk1 Chimaera", why not ask the supplier, or buy a metre of hose and six clips and let "your man" cut to fit?
